Scalloped Potatoes and Cheese

Scalloped potatoes can be a hearty stand alone dinner, a wonderful side dish, or a delicious country recipe all on its own, One dish and no much cleanup means that you’ve got an easy fix meal. Add hamburger, ham, bacon or another meat of your choice and you’ve got a full meal that is one dish ready.

The traditional accompaniment to scalloped potatoes is ham. Cube it up smaller and it will go a long way toward stretching your meal. Getting it right, adding a vegetable such as broccoli or a tossed salad and bread, and you’ve got a low cost, one dish, easy to prepare meal that offers you great taste, filling, and inexpensive meals which also offer good nutrition.

You Will Need:

* 6 potatoes, sliced
* 1 onion, chopped
* 2 tsp. salt
* pepper
* 3 tblsp. butter
* 2 tblsp. flour
* 2 cups hot milk
* 1 cup grated cheese

How To Make It:

Melt butter in double boiler or sauce pan. Add flour, seasoning and stir smooth. Slowly add the hot milk stirring constantly. When it thickens melt the grated cheese in the sauce. Into a buttered baking dish or casserole put layers of the sliced potatoes, onions and cheese sauce, repeating until all ingredients are used. Bake in a moderate oven (350-f) for 1 hour.
